Task 5 - Production

Asset Production/Creating:

Assets: Chair

Programs used: Blender

The first asset I decided to create is a chair to start me off on creating my environment I wanted it look modern, that was my main goal for it to look like and  I will show you how I made it step by step:

I used a simple 2d shape at first then lifted it to create that cushioning on the chair which will turn into a 3d shape later on.

Once I got it all together and I was happy on what it looked like I then copied and pasted it into 16 different ones 4x4 to create the main seat for the chair.

I then smoothed out the surface using one of the tools on the right hand side that shows one of the modifiers then allows me to access how smooth I wanted it to be.

I then beveled the seat then at the bottom smoothed it out once more to create that 3d shape.

This is where I doubled check if things look okay and not look weird, I made it a lot more smoother to create the shape even more better.

With this image I used one of the tools to bend the seat of the chair to create that look of a reclining one.

Once I was happy with the shape that I created I then copied and pasted it once again for the back rest of the chair.

I created the back arm of the chair by using a separate box then extruded the bars to create the legs of the chair.

I then smoothed out the shape of the legs to make sure it looks detailed and has that modern look to the chair.

I then extruded it even more to have the legs sticking out so it would support the whole chair itself by balancing it all together.

Once again I smoothed out the extra length of the extruded bar that I made and made sure that it didn't have that pixel look.

I then created the back legs by extruding the bar and having that support of the chair which balances it all together. I need to make the textures after this but will be moving on to that later on.

In here I've finally added my texture for my chair, I used the image texture to apply an image to use as a texture and I went for a light and basic colour to make it simple yet modern looking.

Then once more I've added texture to the legs of my chair and used a wooden texture this time to make it a little bit different, I tried to use a different material for the chair so it wouldn't be too basic with one colour.

Asset: Palm Tree

Programs used: Blender

I started off using the default body of the tree this was given to me by blender it was in there already, so I used to start me off.

I then made the tree bulky by creating that 3d shape look to it and considering it was 2d at first and stick look I had a decent size on what I will look like.

I then rise up the branches of the tree to create that palm tree look and how it will look like towards the end.

I then expanded the branches by bending them like an umbrella shape to define the look that I am going for.

Once I was happy with the shape I then added leafs to it, I got some images from the internet what a typical palm tree looks like I got the inspiration based of that so I followed the looks for it.

In here I decided on how many leafs I should put and how thick I wanted them to be and thought about it on it going well or not.

In here this was the final finish piece of the palm tree I was happy with the outcome that I got all I made some slight adjustments as you can see on the image.

In here I started to texture using the default texture that was in blender it allowed me to colour in the leafs of the palm tree as I when along with it.

This was the final texture of the palm tree as you can see I added texture to the truck of the tree which created that palm tree look I was pleased of the outcome I got with it as it looks very detailed.

Assets: Barrier

Programs used: Blender

I started off using the default box that I got from blender to work from, it allowed me to manipulate the cube shape anything I wanted. I made a start by extruding each sides of the box.

After that when I was happy with the look that I wanted, I made some small adjustments to see, I checked that I extruded it properly and it's in it's perfect shape.

Once I was finish extruding each individual sides of the box I moved on from texturing my barrier that I am going to use for my level. I used a really basic texture for this one as it looks simple yet decent, I didn't really want to go for an extravagant texture so I was happy with this final outcome that I got.

Asset: Swimming Pool

Programs used: Blender

I started off using the default box on blender, I used that box to start me off on making the swimming pool, I started selecting the each individual faces on each side of the box then stretched each side out with turned out into a rectangular shape.

I manage to come out with this shape, then after that I got the top face of the rectangle shape and got rid of it then it left me with an empty space inside of the shape. I started creating some details with the pool once I manage to create the structure of the pool.

After I added some details with the pool it turned out like this, then after that I will be adding textures to that once I'm happy with the final outcome that I made.

The texturing turned out really complicated due to some of the areas not being texture all at once, but I imported the swimming pool as a plain texture then textured it on unity which turned out okay as it textured all of the areas of the swimming pool, due to blender not texturing all of it I had some problems which made me which into a different software to fix that problem.

Asset: Stairs (Swimming Pool)

Programs used: Blender

I realised that when I put the textured swimming pool on my level it was quite tall for my characters perspective, so in solution I had to make some stairs so that my character can step up to the swimming pool, with that I started off in blender using the default box once more. I then turned it into a stretched out rectangular shape, it then left me with some empty spaces to work on to fill in to face, I took the points on each corner of the shape then filled a face in each shape.

As you can see hear I explained before that I had to get each individual corner to fill in the face so it creates that stair effect, once I was finished with that I check for any other faces that wasn't filled then turned out with the final design.

With the final design finish, I was left again to texture it, I wanted to texture it the same as the swimming pool so it would blend together as one design on my level.

Again with the stairs I had some complications on texturing it, due to it having the texture inside out as you can see on the image that the texture is inside the stairs as the outside has a black texture, I had some difficulties to solve the solution but again I've tried the some method that I did on my swimming pool which I imported the stairs as a plain texture then just textured it all on unity which worked perfectly, I used the same texture on the swimming pool like I said I wanted both objects to blend together.

Asset: Patio Umbrella

Programs used: Blender

With my chair already made and done I thought that I could add more things to it so I decided to make a patio umbrella for a little more detail to it, I started of with the cylinder texture then minimised the size of it to a thin pole then from the bottom I created the stand for it by stretching the bar and closing it from the bottom so it will have it's own stand.

Then next I created the top section for the umbrella which was a little tricky, I had to start off using a plain and thin object at the beginning then stretched it out to create that fold feature with gives it more detail to the object. I then added a few designs by having a little pattern as it goes around the umbrella.

Once I've done both two objects I then copied and pasted the stand to the umbrella with it will connect together when I import it to unity, I decided that I will be texturing it from unity which again I had difficulties texturing in blender, so you will see my images on my level below and present what I've done so far.

Asset: Mini Bar

Programs used: Blender

I started off making the box texture then stretched it out as I beveled the top face of the rectangular shape to create that inner shape inside the shape.

I then filled another separate box then create line patterns to have that tile look and texture to it, I then stretched it out to create the top face for the mini bar.

After that I created one cube shape to create the legs, with the legs it was quite straight forward on how to make it, I just had to select the face then stretched it out as it reach the floor, I basically copied the individual legs I made and pasted it around to create the same shape around.

I then created the side handles for the mini bar, I started off with a holder for it, making a cylinder hole to it cut the face off. I made that individual then again copied and pasted it around the rectangular table, then created the long handle using the cylinder shape then finally extruded it.

After that I then made the lower dividers for the mini bar, I simply just made a few long rectangular blocks then applied it on around, it adds more detail to it as I creates the body support of the mini bar.

Then I created the bottom face for the mini bar, I simply got a square face then shorted the width of the square then created a pattern by adding lines to the block then taking off the remaining blocks to have small gaps between the blocks.

I then started off created the side faces off the mini bar, this was quite simple to make as I got a square shape once more then applied it on by guiding it to the legs as they connect together.

I then did the same thing around the back and the middle of the mini bar, copying and pasting the first block I made then applying them on the back and middle section of the mini bar.

I added a few design on the sides, back and middle section of the mini bar. As you can see at the side of the mini bar I made a small darker wooden pattern to add more detail, I simply just used a thin and long square face then just copied and pasted it again around the body of the mini bar.

With the final design of my mini bar I decided to get the bottom section of the mini bar and copied the block then pasted the block in the middle section of my mini bar to add another section for more details. Then finally created the door of the mini bar for the left side, I used a thin rectangular shape then added small gaps like I did with the bottom section.

For this second to last image I might reused this for my level, due to not having a door I might duplicate it on unity so not all mini bar will have a door, It would make a nice decoration for my level I reckon.

Asset: Plate

Programs used: Blender

I started making a basic simple plate, with the plate it didn't take me that long to make due to simple tutorial clips, I started with the cylinder shape, I re-sized it's shape to start me off.

Then I made some points on the cylinder, once I gathered all of the points this is where I started to reshape the plate and manipulate it and use a little bit of the bevel tool to create the bottom section of the plate.

Then finally the end results I got a simple white plate, I will use this for my level around the mini bar area and will be making food on this once I get this finished and placed on unity.

Asset: Cup

Programs used: Blender

I started using the cylinder shape, this will set me off and give me a really good starting point for making the cup, I tried going for a simple looking cup, I didn't really want to go for something complicated.

I then beveled the cup which created a space inside the cup, then once I got that I had some adjustments to make for the cup, like creating the edges and the bulking shape like it has on the edge of the cup.

Once I mange to do that I got the end result with this, and I thought I could not get any more simple, this is what I wanted to aim for, nothing too complicated yet original, I will be texturing this on the unity software which you will see it being displayed on my level soon.

Asset: Bottle

Programs used: Blender

I used the cylinder shape on the tool box on blender which gave me an ordinary 3d cylinder shape, with this I started off making the bottom section of the bottle.

Then with this I got rid off the top face of the cylinder which created a holo shape below the cylinder, then with the point tool I allowed me to create the bottle shape as I made some patterns with it to make it look like a detailed bottle. On making the top lid for the bottle it was pretty much similar again using the cylinder shape but getting rid of the bottom face then once again using the point tool which I could manipulate it to a simple thin cylinder shape.

With the results I got this top lid shape, I did them separately so it would be a lot more easier to focus on one object, so once I got this done and check for any sort of errors I started moving on to the actual bottle itself.

Once I got this bottle shape and I was happy with the outcome I made some slight adjustments on making some of the surface smooth since it was a little rough like a block shape.

Once that was done I got the two separate objects together then put them as a one object, like again with the other objects I will be texturing this on unity software I didn't really go for a complicated shape I just when for one of the basic shapes for a bottle since that would be a lot more easier and better for the looks of my level.

Asset: Food (Doughnuts)

Programs used: Blender

In blender I started off the torus shape, which was a circle with a hole right in the middle, that gave me a starting point on what to do next. It's really straight forward on how to make it, as soon as I was happy with the shape I just copied the torus shape and pasted it.

I then made it a lot bigger and smoothed out the surface of it, then copied and pasted it a few times so I would have different types of styles, I will be adding glazing and sprinkles later on, I will be using small minimized sphere shapes and I think that would blend quite well with the doughnuts together.

With the styles I will be adding textures on unity with this and with this I added some glazing on the top and will be adding different textures to them. This was quite simple and quick to make since it was just a basic shape to make from.

Asset: Food (Hotdog)

Programs used: Blender

To start making the hot dog I got a cylinder shape and stretched it out control it, then got the points of the cylinder shape then play basically played around with the points till a got a rough and detail enough look hot dog.

Once I got the shape of the hot dog all I need to do was put a stick on it, which again I used another separate cylinder shape, this was really simple to do and make and how it's pretty much straight forward.

Then once I got all of it together, I copied and pasted the first hot dog to end up with two hot dogs, I will be using this for my level for more food and detailed objects, for the textures I will be doing them again on the unity software.

Asset: Food (Burger)

Programs used: Blender

To start making the burger I made a cylinder shape, by making this flat and smooth that created the bottom section of the bun on the burger once that was done I moved on to the beef itself.

On top of this I got another cylinder shape, then got the points of the cylinder then move different sections of the points to create a rough texture to the beef.

I moved on making with the cheese on top of the burger, this was quite long to make due to a long process on really thinning out the layer, whilst making the corners fold so it would blend perfectly well overall.

Next I had to make the tomatoes next this was quite simple, with a help of copying and pasting once more. I got the a cylinder shape again then minimized the size then smoothed it out then like I said at the start coping and pasting it twice and moving the other one on a different place/position.

Then the finally thing to do it the top bun, which was quite simple as well on making, I got another cylinder shape then got the face on top which I can control, with that it allowed me to create a smooth surface on the bun, then I had some adjustments to curve up the bun, when that was done I finished off having the seeds on top of the bun which was small miniature sphere shapes. I will be texturing this to my level which you will see in the progression level soon.

Asset: Food (Bread)

Programs used: Blender

Making the bread I started off using the default box from the blender software, then I manipulated it by curving up the edges I also then smoothed out the edges as well which got me this result.

Then after I got this, It was pretty much done I could just add some design to it by adding toppings on the bread, this was really simple to make it took roughly around 5 to 10 minutes.

I adding the toppings using copied and pasted sphere shapes which created like a detailed look to the bread which would go well with my level near the mini bar, again I will be adding texture to this bread on the unity software.

Asset: Food (Watermelon)

Programs used: Blender

I used a sphere shape to create the main base for the watermelon, I decided to make to watermelons I will be talking about that as I go on with the images. But for this one it was really simple on how to manipulate the watermelon shape, I had the point tools then made it into a more of a oval shape with that I stretch out the shape more.

On creating the half watermelon I got the same sphere shape then got half of the face to cut it off then got the face to fill in the missing gap which created a half way point.

Then with that all I had to do now is smoothed out the shape which made it really detailed as soon I was done with that I moved on the next watermelon which was more of a whole shape.

Then with this I smoothed it out as well like what I did with the previous half watermelon, once I got both objects done I emerge them together in one blender software.

The outcome I got was this and I thought it was one of the most quickest and easy object to make on blender, I will be texturing this two objects into unity and I will show the progression level on what I've done so far.

Asset: Food (Banana)

Programs used: Blender

To make the banana I started off using the cylinder shape I made it lay flat to start off then once I got to edit mode I could control the points on all of the cylinder shape, I then extruded the length of the cylinder till I got the right shape.

Once I got the shape right near the end of the cylinder I closed the points near the edge so it has the detailed look for a banana, after that I selected all of the faces then copied a pasted it to make duplicates of this object.

I got the final design looking like this, all together I made three of them a decent amount to use for my level, once more I will be texturing these on the unity software and will be shown on the progression level soon.

Asset: Food (Orange)

Programs used: Blender

I got a sphere shape to make the orange fruit, I then afterwards I went to edit mode and got the points to play around with and edit the roughness of an orange and make it have small bumps and ridged faces.

Once I got that it turned out like this, this was basically the finish design, on this image I was just checking if there's anything that I missed out on the faces.

Final design, I thought this was probably one of the easiest and quickest model design to make due to it's simplicity, it was pretty much straight forward. I will be texturing this on the unity to add to my fruit collection for my mini bar.

Asset: Food (Pear)

Programs used: Blender

To make a simple pear is a similar process to making an orange to my previous assets I've made, I got a sphere shape again to start me off.

Then on the edit tool I started manipulated the shape of the pear by making it thin and longer neck for the pear look, once I got the shape right near the top where it ends I extruded section to create the top tree for the pear.

My final asset design turned out quite well, I will be showing this off on unity once I textured it, also will be making updates on my progression so far.

Asset: Food (Apple)

Programs used: Blender

Once again this was a simple process to making the orange asset, I started off  using the sphere shape to give me the main body for the apple.

Once I edited it on edit mode I got the points and made it a lot more neater compared to the orange and smoother, then to finish it off I created a small topping for the apple.

Final asset was this, and I thought it was a similar process but some slight adjustment on the look, I will be texturing this to show off on my level, I think this will be the final fruit asset that I will be making, I will be moving on to something else after this.

Asset: Food (Cup Cake)

Programs used: Blender

I used a sphere shape to create the ''icing'' on top of the cake, I basically played around with it to make it rough looking and original once that was done I put that to the side to move on to my bottom section of the cup cake.

The bottom section I used 2d holo circle shape that was a flat shape which lets me extrude the sides of it, then once I did that I close the bottom section of the face then I made some rigged patterns all the way around the circle.

Then final asset was this, I left edit mode for the icing, then I got a pretty good result on the icing to make it look detailed, I will be texturing this to my unity level, there's not that much space on my mini bar so it will be an end to it soon.

Asset: Food (Pancake)

Programs used: Blender

Making the pancake was quite simple, I got a cylinder shape then thinned out the shape of it and extruded the length of it, once I done that I made it really then on the end of the pancake to make it into a folding detailed look.

I manage to come up with this design on the asset, once I made one I copied and pasted the original design to duplicate them into more, this is pretty much the final design all I need to add now is textures.

I will be adding textures to this on unity and would fill another slot on the table of my mini bar, there's not that much space now considering I made quite a lot of assets on the table.

Asset: Food (Cake Roll)

Programs used: Blender

I started creating the outside shape first which was a ring shape, I then thinned that out then went to edit mode to roughen up the look for it into more of a detailed bread.

Once I've done that I went off edit mode then got a really good result on what I got on how it was really detailed.

For the middle section of the cake roll was more of a 2d shape I created it flat so I don't have to create the whole 3d shape because the outside layer is covering it anyway so I decided to make it 2d instead. Once I've done that I played around with the detail and drew a pattern shape.

Once I finished with that I put them both separate assets together, I manage to get quite a good result in the end, this is probably the last asset I'm going to make since it's the final slot for my mini bar, I will be showing this on the progression and the texturing on my level.

Asset: Water

Programs used: Unity

To make the water for my level I followed this video tutorial, I gave me an idea on how to make a really detail yet basic looking one that will suit my level, I created the waves which can be made on the scripts, and the reflections of the water, also shows the water can be see-through as you can see the floor which is textured by tiles, I followed this tutorial and made some of my own changes that I could use for my level. I will be uploading this to my progression level as you will see it soon.

Progression Level:

This is the progression of what I've done with my level so far and how I manage to keep on track with the task. Here is the start of my level creating the landscape first then added my textured trees which I've made on blender then added the default sky box on unity which was provided.

On this image I mange to get done is surround the small area that I'm working on with texture brick barriers this allows that so my character would not fall off from the level which I added collision on the barriers.

Then like I said before having complications with the texturing on blender with my swimming pool that I created, I imported the plain swimming pool on to unity which allows me to texture it instead on unity which turned out really well I reckon on my level.

Same goes with the stairs that I made on blender, once again I had problems texturing so I imported it once more to unity which again let's me texture it in unity instead of blender then once I had both objects like my stairs and the swimming pool, I used the same textures on both so that I would blend together as one object. I thought it turned out really well. Then to top it all off I added collisions on all of the objects what was placed on my level, so that my character wouldn't go through objects.

This is what I've done so far to my level, I added the stuff that I needed it's just the case of organising the object/furniture's for my level to look nicer then finish it off with a realistic water effect for my pool which I will be doing later on. But now I've added a patio umbrella for this update and will be showing more towards the end.

This update I've added a mini bar, I've started putting all of the objects that I wanted to do first then finish everything with the water on the swimming pool last. Next update I will be rearranging the objects around my level to have a nicer look to it.

This is what I've rearranged so far, I've added the mini bar again but took off the door so it would make a corner bar, I've also added some more stair for my swimming pool so it has an entry to the other side of the pool and an exit for the pool with another stair opposite each other. Next update I would plan on having mini object foods onto the mini bar. I will be doing that some time soon on blender.

This is the progression of my mini bar so far, I've already added the plates on the stacks at the bottom of the bar, I think it makes a really good detailed design, I will be adding more towards this. I will show more images below on what I've done.

Like I said on the previous update on my level I will be showing what I've done so far for food display on my level, the objects looks really good as it blends really well with the mini bar that I got, this is just the three food objects that I've done so far. I will be adding more towards this, as it will be seen soon.

As you can see I've done quite a lot for this update, I've manage to fill in the rest of the empty slots in my mini bar, I've added bottle drinks, cups and more plates under the mini bar. Then for the food that I've done on blender you could see that I've made some fruits, bread I thought I could use these as add ons to fill in the rest of my mini bar, next update will probably be the whole desk filled with food.

This is the final design for my mini bar, I've fill in all of the slots, it was really interesting to come up with things to make them, for my next progression you'll see that I will be adding water for my main swimming pool, then after that I would double check my level, because I am nearly finish on my final level.

Final Improvement

This is the final adjustments and improvements that I've done on my level, I've added some basic water on my pool which I simply followed an example for a tutorial video, I've also added some more chairs for my decoration on my level. Next I will be recording and uploading the final video on the next task and will be showing off the final and finished piece for my level, at the same time I will be checking if anything of the assets/objects will need fixing or doing some slight adjustments as I go along.

Unfinished - Editing Video

This is the editing video that I've uploaded and shows what the finished level looks like, I tried making each assets as detailed as possible like the furniture objects, water, lighting etc. As you can see I will try and view that on the video itself.
