Task 1 - Research

Contractual:

Contractual is defined as a brief where a media company in the industry is employed by the client in order to complete a project within the brief this is set to specific guidelines, which the media company must be willing to follow and this will be a very important for the media company to follow these guidelines and do exactly what the client states that's written in the brief and if they fail to do this the results can breech of contract and the company might face a legal actions on what they've done. The contractual brief will be good for the media company that is involved as they will know exactly what they have to do and what they have been asked to do and will be given in detailed information in many specific ways.

Commission:

The commission brief is where a huge media company will employ other independent working media companies to create and also produce different other products for them and after that the product has been made and finished other larger companies will go and use the product for an external client who will pay the independent working media companies for making the certain product that they made and could even get a cut of the royalties as the brief is not negotiated between other companies and the clients but is negotiated between other media companies.

Negotiated:

On this type of brief will be brought in the co-operative brief and will be given to the many more media companies that are competing and the project will have some issues between themselves about the brief or anything they would like to clear up with the client. Through the negotiation that the brief can then be changed in order to suite every party taking part in the production. This could be anything from changing the appearance of the product and what the product will look like or changing the contents of the products and as well as keeping it to a set guideline to a brief.

Tender:

For this, this is where the client will advertise their production company that they will bring together and a proposal that they will present to the client, they could have multiple pitches to the client from many different other companies and so the client will then get the chance to choose the proposal on what they think that will look good and suit well on their brief and offer the job to that production company.

Formal:

The formal media company is given to a brief by the client which outlines the product on which they are wanting to be made, this brief is very open and only gives enough information to be able to produce the product and any other issues or information that the media companies would like to go over and can be discussed during the negotiation with the client, other clients and companies employed by them will formally agree on the project and with the brief it sometimes can't be legally binding.

Co-operative:

The co-operative brief is where they have more than two companies that they are willing to hire and by the client who works to the brief they have written for a specific project that they're doing and wanting to be completed. Then both companies will receive the brief and they can proceed to work together and produce the product that they are making and if both companies disagrees with one another there can be a negotiated brief in the order to resolve the problems.

Informal:

The informal brief is not documented as it is usually of the verbal kind and it is where the client and the company which they employed or hired will have discuss the requirements for the product and they will be making a big agreement on the up coming project.

Competition:

On this brief they can be accessed by all of the different other production companies that are participating and sometimes can be seen as a free competition as each production company will complete the brief and the client can then judge and see which company has the best and good project and as an award they have it published in public.
